Rehman Chishti. Rehman is a local lad having grown up in Gillingham and Rainham where he went to local schools and has served as the town’s MP since 2010.
Rehman always takes into account the views of his constituents when making decisions in Parliament. In the 2016 EU Referendum, he voted Leave after listening to the views of constituents.
Education is very important to Rehman and he has campaigned hard to ensure every child gets the best start in life at local schools.
Rehman has been recognised nationally for his work as an MP, winning 3 national awards as MP of the year and was listed by the BBC as the highest contributing backbench MP in Parliament.
Rehman is passionate about ensuring local residents receive excellent healthcare. He introduced two Private Members Bills on improving mental healthcare.
Under this Conservative Government the local area has seen an increase in jobs, businesses, apprenticeships, and high economic growth. Rehman has championed this at every level and even brought the then Chancellor to visit MEMS and Gills FC.
