Today 30th October 2021 we were in attendance of the new course that is available at Mid Kent College, Evette and Julie from Gillingham Street Angels attended the NVDi coarse launch today as it is a cause that’s very close to our hearts, the aim of this course will help people understand about non visible disability’s and enable people to, not only understand, but to enable people to know how to deal with people experiencing difficulty, due to their condition. Below you can find links for further information.

I am so pleased to announce that there is now a link to apply for the Non-Visible Disability Awareness course below:

This qualification will include a combination of theory based learning and practical workshops to equip the learner with the knowledge to recognise non-visible disability and give the learner the skills to empower them to make their customer and/or service user experience one that promotes inclusivity and celebrates diversity.

The course is broken down into four units and assessed in a number of practical, project based and work related methods:

· Customer Service

· Understanding Diversity

· Developing Own Interpersonal Skills

· Mental Wellbeing

You may be thinking… is this course for me?

We are welcoming applications from everyone interested in developing their skills in this area and would suggest the course is designed to be most suitable for adults aged 19+ working in the following sectors wishing to upskill and develop confidence in how they work with people with non-visible or dynamic disability

· Retail

· Hospitality & Catering

· Public service/Local government

· Health & Social Care

· Voluntary & community

Please be advised that the course is due to start at our Medway campus on Monday 1st November 2021 and will run until 25th April 2022 – 5:30-7:30pm.

If you would like to apply; the next stage of the process would be for a member of our admissions team to get in touch when your application has been received next week and book in an enrolment meeting with the lead tutor for this course.

Please note that these enrolment meetings will now take place on Monday 18th October between 5:30-7:30pm at our Medway campus or on Friday 29th October from 9am-11am. If you are unable to make these dates; a telephone interview can be arranged.

At your enrolment meeting we will also discuss your eligibility for funding for the course; please refer to this page on our website for further details.

Please be advised that we do not want the cost of this course to be barrier to your learning – dependent upon your circumstance; there may be eligibility for further access to a NVDi bursary to assist with these costs. This alongside options for your employer to support with these costs, can also be discussed at your enrolment meeting or you can speak to me beforehand.

We are really pleased to be able to offer this community learning course here at MidKent College and being part of the non-visible disability initiative here in Medway.
